Tabbles

The Ultimate Desktop Tagging System.. Now With Sharing!

Tabbles
Rebate

Let's talk about document management for a moment. Right now, you probably think that your system of organization works pretty well -- you've got folders on your hard drive that are dedicated to certain clients, types of documents, dates, and whatnot. But if a document can rightfully belong to MORE THAN ONE category, where do you put it? Do you make two copies? What if one gets updated and the other doesn't?

Tabbles is a revolutionary new document management system that will help you to categorize and organize your files more efficiently than ever! With Tabbles, you create as many categorized tabbles (they function like folders) as you need, then assign each of your documents to one or more tabbles! Did you hear that? You can put the same file into several tabbles, without the need for problematic file duplication! This is the primary benefit to Tabbles' non-hierarchical and cross-linked structure.

Click the following link for a quick overview from the developer designed specifically for Bits du Jour customers!

Beyond the ability to place the same file into several categories, Tabbles also excels at describing the contents of your files, folders, and bookmarks. No longer will you have to remember the exact name of a file to find it - just describe the file to Tabbles in an easy and natural way, and Tabbles will find it for you!

Just one glance at your file icons immediately tells you which tabbles are linked to each file. The tabbles are arranged in a circle that surrounds each file, so you know right away if a file belongs to more than one category. You can even use Tabbles to navigate your way through files based on how they are related!

But Tabbles isn't just a document manager. It's also a "social tagging tool" that facilitates document sharing in an extraordinarily intuitive way:

Want to be able to share and manage files with your friends, family, and colleagues? Sick of navigating permissions settings and file trees? With the shared tagging feature, Tabbles allows multiple users to browse and contribute to each-others tagging routines. Shared tagging in Tabbles is as simple as single-user tagging, but provides a very real alternative to massively expensive corporate Document Management Systems. Tabbles Shared Tagging offers an extremely gentle learning curve, is extraordinarliy fast to use and requires zero-setup:

  • Find files based on what they're related to independent to their position on disk.
  • On-the-fly group files far away from each other, based on their relations.
  • Speed-up collaboration and communication -- tags can describe files extremely efficiently.
  • Serverless and zero-setup: sharing works on a LAN as well as on cloud-storage services (such as Dropbox, Powerfolder, SugarSync etc...).
  • ...and much more. Follow the link for a comprehensive overview of Tabbles' new shared tagging features.
Written by Derek Lee

Key Features:

  • Manage your documents by assigning each file to one or more categories called tabbles.
  • Reduce the amount of disk space used by your files by eliminating unnecessary duplicate files.
  • Avoid headaches associated with keeping multiple copies of the same file in sync when revisions are made.
  • Find files just by describing them, even when you don't know the full file name.
  • Use an intuitive graphical interface to visualize the relationship between files.
  • Utilize auto-tagging rules: Tabbles automatically tags the files currently present in a folder, and "listens" to the folder in order to tag any files that will be put in the folder in the future
  • Utilize one-click tagging: Each time an interesting file is saved or created, a pop-up comes out automatically from the windows taskbar so that the user can easily tag the file.

How does the home version differ from the business version? Are you offering a similar discount on the business version which I see is $68.57 at your web site?

Hi, I had looked at Tabbles in its earlier version and it just seemed like a gimmick. The new interface is really MUCH improved - so much that I bought it! I see that you are also offering an upgrade to the 'business' edition but information is a little sketchy on what that is. How do the collaboration and customized data structure options work? And especially what are 'sensible' default databases?

Maybe you can explain what this feature of the Business Version means:
Define and share customized database structures.

    Thanks.

    Hello everybody! :-)
Thanks for your questions, you seem you're all interested in the business versions:

currently there is not much difference between the "home" and "business" versions (apart from the EULA). As Dave mentions, we've been spending a lot of time on the GUI in the past months. The next big we'll develop will be the "shared tabbles", meaning the possibility to share your tagging with other people (colleagues) in the intranet.
This feature will appear in the "business" version only (or maybe also in the "home", but in a very limited way).
"Define and share customized database structures" means the chance to create a db structure, export it (just the tabbles), and have other people to import it so that they will not start from an empty db.

Also consider that the home version will be priced 30$ forever, while the business version's price tag will go up as we add this feature in order to match the prices of DMS (tipically 150$ - 300$ per license). The business version is not involved in this boomerapp promotion.

Should you have any questions, we're here! :-)

Dave: the sensible default database are connected to the "customized database structures" and it's something that should mostly interest a reseller/OEM partner...
    (thanks for purchasing!) :-)

Hi, I am trying the software, and I was wondering if there is an option to change the window background? On your website I saw pics of older versions where the windows were black/grey.
I am severly light sensitive, and the bright white windows not only are hard for me to see, but they are actually painful.

    Hello Just Curious:
currently there is no way to change it, but we are planning to develop a skinning system that would allow yout to change backgrouind everywhere.

We changed the colors from grey to white as it seems that most people kinda get lost when they see something which is not standard-Windows white...

"We changed the colors from grey to white as it seems that most people kinda get lost when they see something which is not standard-Windows white..."

That is too bad, the pics of the older versions looked like it would be easier on my eyes.

"we are planning to develop a skinning system that would allow yout to change backgrouind everywhere. "

Will this be soon? and will the upgrade to it be included?

Just curious: we're planning to do the skinning quite soon (within a few weeks or so) and yes, you'll be able to update if you buy a license today

If I purchase the business version, advertised at your site at a discounted price through today, will I be eligble for an update to include the "shared tabbles" feature when it become available?
  • Feb 14 2010 1:53pm
Andrea D'Intino (Yellow blue soft Vendor)
@Paul: yes you will, with the license you buy today you'll be able to update until the version 1.9.99... or whatever is the last version until the 2.0.

Was unable to purchase. The page went into a weird reload-that-never-ends. Even when going to the purchase page, it started reloading that one, tho on that page it was full reloads, rather than just one which never completed. Then I was sent back to the main page here. The main page also displayed incorrect time left, going from 19 minutes to 1 minute to 59 minutes.........

I could not buy, even after restarting my browser, the page continued in this behaviour until the deal ended.

    It is fine now :(
