Pixel Perfect Measurement

Screen Calipers
Extra Rebate

Computers are great at many things - sorting long lists, computing averages of sales, giving us thousands of new and interesting ways to waste time every day - but sometimes they have a lot of trouble with some of the simpler ones. Like figuring out if two things on your screen are aligned, or are the same height or width.

And, no, our graphics programs don't always do that. In fact, they hardly ever do that, at least not how we want them to. We just want to know if the leftmost bits line up, or if the boxes in the page start and stop on the same lines.

So we were pretty happy when we found Screen Calipers. Not only does it measure anything on our screen, but does it without hiding what's underneath. So we know our measurements are exact and perfect.

Screen Calipers are a unique on-screen measurement tool, that let you measure anything on your computer screen with complete accuracy.

Written by Roger Thomasson

Screen Calipers lets you:

  • Measure anything on your computer screen with ultimate accuracy.
  • Measure objects on pages, illustrations, photos, maps, blueprints, architectural drawings, digital xrays, EKGs, or ECGs.
  • See objects underneath the calipers, and change skins for specific uses.
  • Measure or align anything - even across windows, or at angles.

Who Needs Screen Calipers?
You do if you've ever:

  • Tried using a piece of paper to see if two things on your screen were aligned.
  • Tried using a real ruler to measure something on your screen.
  • Tried using another window to see if two things on your screen were the same width or height (and been frustrated when it covers up what you're trying to measure).
  • Wanted more accuracy than you could get with an onscreen ruler.
  • Pasted a screenshot into your graphics tool just so you could enlarge it and be sure your objects lined up correctly.
  • Counted the pixels between lines in Microsoft Paint.

Real Users Say

  • “As useful as a paperclip.”- Bryan at raremedium.com
  • “It is so good, I’m buying another for a friend.”- Eric Bass
  • “Anyone can find uses for this besides just measuring graphics or photos. It would be useful in cheaper CAD programs or when you need a quick check on size of an object. Great for lining things up as well. Many more uses that one could come up with besides the above.”- Solilai at earthlink.net
  • “This has to be the best program I ever downloaded. This is a perfect program to measure items on your html pages as well as other stuff. I use the program to align pictures on my site and to measure blank space on my site to make sure my pages always stay centered like I want them. This is shareware but can be used indefinitely for free with just a nag screen and a couple of disabled features. I still use 2.1 even though 2.2 is out. I just don't need the couple of new feature changes in 2.2. If you pay for the program you will get to use the custom tools and turn off the splash screen along with other measure types including a measure that will tell you how large an image will print from your printer. I like the free stuff and this is only one of 2 programs I have ever paid for that I did not have to. The other one was only 2.00. Every person with a website should have this one. Nothing else like this on the net.”- Oteotd
  • “Your programs are absolutely outstanding. They are a must for every webdesigner.”- Hermann at chello.at
  • “I have a problem convincing my optometrist about the distance between the center of my nose to each respective pupil. I broke my nose ski jumping some years back. I took a picture of my face, scanned it into the computer, used the caliper to show exact measurement (in units) of my pupil v. nose spacing ... to finally convince my doctor to take accurate measurements.”- Manfred

    Hello,

I can not display the Acrobat Toolbar, it does not appear when I do a right click on the Adobe Acrobat’s menu area.

I solved it. I did not have "MFC71.dll" on my system. I downloaded the dll and now it works.

The "free" ed is crippled. It costs $29.95 to buy the full version. Looks OK and seems to work OK though is well overpriced. If you wish to say Its 100% free, please let people know that the "free ed" has several restrictions, its not the same as the paid ed or provide us a standard non-crippled program that can be used properly.
Alternative : WonderWebWare Screen Ruler and it's free, of both cost and restrictions

Glen, you seem to have misunderstood how BoomerApp works. You can download and try the software, but you have to pay full price to get it to work. However after you pay you get a mail-in rebate for your money back.

Exactly what I'd never want to see - REBATES! At least one state is looking to ban any kind of mail-in rebate and just today stats were released saying that 70% of rebates are never redeemed - either too complicated, the company just never accepts the forms, finding some reason to say it is not acceptable, etc etc etc. Recommendation was to NOT buy anything that offers a so-called -rebate- as an inducement to buy.

Personally I've -NEVER- any rebate for any product I've bought. My friends and I just decided we'd rather not deal with any company that makes sales based on rebates (that they have little intention to fulfill - or only do a percentage). We agree with the assessment - buy things on sale - NOT with any rebate.

    Daniel,

It's certainly your right to your opinion and to choose what and when you buy, for what it's worth though I wanted to mention that our rebate forms are simple and for anyone who mails one in we have every intention to fulfill (and do so as fast as possible). We are not in the business of disqualifying people or holding onto rebate money and we don't add any extra 'hoops' to the process. Whether you choose to mail in the form or not we can't control, all we can assure you is that if you do you will be paid quickly and efficiently.

    Sincerely,
    Jason Foodman

    Daniel,

Thanks for your comments. We've partnered with Rebate Delivery in creating this website, I've known Jason for years and would not have even considered doing this with any other company. As you can see we can't get these low prices with our normal discount coupons on BitsDuJour.com. We hope you like the deals, and I'd like to give my personal assurance that we will guarantee all valid rebate payments.

I'm not saying that anyone is -intentionally- NOT fulfilling Rebates, but it is happening, and with great frequency (for any number of reasons). It is however, unfortunate that this begins now - with the FTC, several Attorney's General, legislatures, and consumer groups looking into rebate practices over all industries. And the very first day I clicked on the BDJ header that lead me here a nationwide recommendation came out to NOT buy anything that is offered with a Rebate. My personal negative experiences with them aside - the overwhelming opinions are they are, at the very least, troublesome, and indeed some are criminal. You can avoid that by taking the recommendations from our trustworthy government agency and consumer groups to get the best price you can - without - any rebate.

Thanks for your comments Daniel, I hope that this site can help change your opinion. I will give my personal assurance that if anyone has a problem with a valid rebate I'll get out my checkbook and refund the money myself. You're welcome to give me a call and discuss this further.

    Best regards.

It's really too bad all this side discussion has become so heated...I paid full price for the Calipers several years ago, both at home and at work, and I'd do the same again even if I had to pay triple!

Screen Calipers is one of the most useful software apps I've ever used--and a bargain even if you pay full price without a rebate. By not going for this deal, you're just cheating yourself out of one hell of a program. I use it with Acrobat, PageMaker, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Finale, Sibelius, and other programs...works like a charm.

I've got a full review coming soon, but in the meantime see http://www.viadigita.com/software/
